A Time of Renewal and Reflection
The poet Edna St Vincent Millay once opined that “April, comes like an idiot babbling and strewing flowers.” Now it’s hard to know what was going on in Edna’s life when she wrote this in the early 1900’s, but if I am interpreting it correctly, it feels like she was saying that April, although a time of renewal, can be a bit chaotic, just like our lives. There are days of sun and flowers and other days of clouds and storms. Certainly something to ponder as we move forward.
The great part about getting older is that you gain life experience, Hopefully, you start to understand what you can control and what you can’t and learn to let those things go. It’s a process of realizing what and who will bring chaos into your life and setting the boundary to stop it before it starts. I know I can get frustrated watching some of the humans I care about make the same bad choices over and over again, lacking insight into how badly things are going to end up. I know it sounds like I’m bragging, but dogs don’t follow unstable leaders because it could bring us harm. I wish you humans would listen to your instincts rather than just your emotions, I think you could avoid a lot of drama.
I think you can learn a lot by watching nature, how creatures interact, resolve conflict, stay safe and then enjoy the bounty of the earth. There is a rhythm to it all if you take the time to observe.
So just for today, take in the majesty and beaty of spring , coming to life after a long and dreary winter.
