The Geese Are Back, and I’m Suspicious

Something strange is going on and I intend to get to the bottom of it. After protecting Doc from those aggressive geese last week at work, I thought that was last we would see of them. Apparently not. We came home on Friday and those feathered waterfowl had the nerve to follow us home. They were stationed in back of our house on the other side of the fence, glaring and honking at me through the sliding glass doors. I reacted so quickly by barking and growling that I startled Doc so bad, she about jumped out of her skin.

“ What the heck is going on Grover?” she yelled. Then she immediately came over to where I was looking and saw with her own eyes what I was disturbed about. “ I think they followed us home.” I said with trepidation. “Maybe they are stalking us!” “ What on earth are you talking about Grover?” she said with a sense of concern. I hadn’t told Doc before now, but realized I needed to let her know what I had been reading. I explained that I saw on the internet that there was a Gen Z conspiracy theory about the government killing all the birds and replacing them with look alike drones to spy on the American people. She just looked at me, took a deep breath and said, “Grover, haven’t I taught you that you can’t believe everything you read on the internet.” “Then why are they here, at our house?” I responded with conviction. Doc paused and with a sigh explained to me. “Grover, it is spring, it is nesting season and those geese are probably building a nest by the pond out back to have their babies, that’s all. They are not even the same geese we saw at work. Not everything is a conspiracy, now go take a nap and stay off the internet, it’s making you paranoid.”

I knew she was probably right, but that hasn’t kept me from staying alert. When I go outside, I like to look through the fence to see where they are, just in case I need to protect our domain. Last evening when I went out, I saw them hiding behind the shed near the pond. Now if that’s not suspicious behavior, I don’t know what is.
