When Geese Attack

Doc and I work in an area of the city that you would describe as industrialized. Around our office building there are warehouses, the city bus depot, Rumpke trash and recycling where they keep the big trash trucks and the busiest train track in the state. Not exactly a place where you would expect an encounter with nature, but nature had other ideas.

It was a regular morning and it was time for Doc to take me out in back of our building to the big grassy lot for my morning constitutional. There is only a tiny window on the back door of the building, and Doc made the big mistake of not looking outside prior to exiting the building. As she opened the door, we were met by three very large and startled geese, sitting right by the back door. Well, my instinct kicked in and I didn’t think twice as I jumped up and lunged for the three large birds as they were honking and flapping there large wings trying to scare us away. It being a goose emergency, I went into protection mode and I forgot that Doc was attached to me by my leash, almost pulling her down in the process. Well that really riled up those geese and they tried to intimidate us by expanding and flapping their wings, honking and hissing at us.

Well now I was mad. Not to be bullied by three long neck feathered freaks., I decided to let them know who was boss. From deep down in my belly I let out the fiercest growl I could muster. And you know what, It worked. Those geese not only retreated, but they actually looked intimidated by my brute force and flew away, honking in protest. I have to admit, I was very proud of myself and looked up at Doc for affirmation. She smiled, patted me on the head and told me what a good boy I was.

After all the excitement, I finally got to use the potty in peace and also had the satisfaction of knowing I had protected Doc. It just goes to show you, you need to be prepared in life, you never know what could happen next.
